Build & ship

AI‑accelerated web apps

Custom software used to mean six-figure quotes and six-month timelines. Not anymore. Portals, dashboards, quoting tools and internal systems - scoped, prototyped and delivered in weeks.

  • Prototype in week one
  • Fixed milestones, not retainers
  • You own the code and the IP
  • Boring, reliable tech underneath
app build - milestones

gce app freight-quoter

week 1 ....... clickable prototype

week 2 ....... core flows + real data

week 3 ....... pilot with your team

week 4 ....... in production

(the old way: month three, still in discovery)

You might need one

When a spreadsheet stops being funny

The business runs on a spreadsheet only one person understands

Quoting, scheduling or stock lives in a workbook with formulas nobody dares touch. When that person is on leave, so is the process.

Off-the-shelf software does 70% of the job

You’ve tried the SaaS options and each one almost fits. The missing 30% is where your team burns hours on workarounds.

A customer portal would end the phone tag

Customers call for order status, bookings or documents that a simple portal could show them - and take off your team’s plate.

The agency quote had a comma in it

You asked for an internal tool and got a $150,000 proposal with a discovery phase. The economics of custom software have changed; most quotes haven’t.

The build

What's included

Scoped honestly, prototyped before you commit, and delivered against fixed milestones - with the boring engineering done properly underneath.

  • Scope

    Scope & prototype first

A short scoping phase ends in a clickable prototype, not a document. You see the app before you commit to building it.

  • Build

    Senior build at AI speed

Experienced developers using AI tooling for the repetitive layers, spending their time on your logic, your data and your edge cases.

  • Data

    Your systems, connected

The app talks to what you already run - your store, accounting, inventory or that spreadsheet it’s replacing (we’ll import it).

  • UX

    Interfaces people actually use

Designed for the warehouse floor and the front desk, not a portfolio. If your team needs training to use it, we designed it wrong.

  • Ship

    Auth, hosting & security

Logins, roles and permissions done properly, deployed to reliable hosting with backups, monitoring and error tracking.

  • Pilot

    Pilot & iterate

The first version ships to a small group, we watch how it’s really used, and the next iteration is built from evidence, not opinions.

  • Support

    Support & evolution

Apps grow. We stay on for fixes and new features - or hand over cleanly to your own team, documented.

Why now

Custom software is suddenly affordable

AI has collapsed the cost of writing the code - the scaffolding, the forms, the plumbing that used to consume most of a project’s budget. What’s left is the part that always mattered: understanding your business and making the right calls on logic, data and edge cases.

That’s why a senior team plus AI tooling now delivers in weeks what used to take a contract, a discovery phase and a quarter.

  • A prototype before a commitment

You click through the app in week one and decide with your hands on it - not from a proposal PDF.

  • Fixed milestones, visible progress

Weekly demos on a staging URL. Each milestone has a price and a deliverable; there is no open-ended retainer.

  • Boring technology, on purpose

Proven frameworks, plain databases, standard hosting. Exciting tech stacks are for our side projects, not your business.

How it runs

Prototype, pilot, production

  1. 1

    Scope call

What the tool should do, who uses it, and what it replaces. We tell you if it should exist at all.

  2. 2

    Prototype

A clickable version of the core flow within days, and a fixed milestone plan built from it.

  3. 3

    Build

Weekly demos as the real app takes shape against the milestones.

  4. 4

    Pilot

A small group uses it for real work. What we learn shapes the final iteration.

  5. 5

    Production & support

Live, monitored and supported - with the codebase and documentation in your hands.

Fair questions

Before you ask

What does an app like this cost?

A fraction of a traditional agency build - the scope call and prototype produce a fixed milestone plan, so you know the full number before committing. Simple internal tools start small; the price scales with integrations and complexity, not with hours burned.

Do I own the code?

Completely. The repository, the IP, the hosting accounts and the data are all yours from day one. If we ever part ways, you hand the repo to any developer and they can pick it up - that’s a design requirement, not a courtesy.

Who maintains it after launch?

Your choice. Most clients keep us on for a modest support arrangement; some hand it to an internal developer, which the documentation and boring tech stack make straightforward. Nothing about the build assumes we’re attached forever.

Can the app itself use AI?

Where it earns its place, yes - extracting data from documents, drafting responses, searching your knowledge, categorising incoming work. We add AI where it removes a manual step, not as a feature checkbox.

How is this different from no-code tools like Airtable or Bubble?

No-code platforms are great until you hit their walls - per-seat pricing that grows with your team, performance limits, and logic that can’t leave the platform. A built app has no platform fee, no ceiling, and it’s yours. If no-code genuinely fits your case, we’ll tell you that on the scope call and save you the build.

Our processes are messy. Do we need to fix them first?

No - messy processes are normal, and building the tool is usually what forces the clarity. The prototype phase surfaces the decisions quickly: seeing a screen makes people realise what the process actually is. That’s far cheaper than a process-mapping consulting phase.

Scope it

What should stop being a spreadsheet?

Tell us the job the tool should do. You’ll get an honest read on whether it’s worth building, and a prototype-first plan with a fixed price.
